Thanks for the kind words ! So you really know where the inspiration of the castle comes from? Since I didn't precise this information, I would be very impress if you could say so. It's a very well known castle indeed. So what do you think it is ?
Thanks for the kind words You pinpointed exactly what I want to achieve with this kind of maps/ illustrations. Maps can be a bit boring and illustrations not so much useful. Blending the two of them into a single piece is tricky. I guess I did well on this one at least
It is tricky indeed! I generally start with a map and try to add artistic touches with things like compass roses, frames, icons, and labels to suggest themes associated with the locations I'm mapping. Taking the opposite approach as you do showcases the theme nicely.
Thank you for showing your enjoyment. Be sure that I take it as a fuel, that they energize the next project(s). That keeps the motivation high and boosts the speed doing the illustrations. I will do my best to keep these comments coming. Thanks again
You flatter me! Your work is wonderful and I thought the way you did the layout was really quite genius. Being someone who struggles with perspective, I can truly appreciate how much effort you put into your work. May I ask who this piece was for? I assume you do this professionally.
I believe that only a handful of illustrators achieve well in this business. Pretty hard to do it for a living. In fact, I'm living in Italy at the moment. We're expats and we have the chance to move into a different country every 3-4 years. We spent some time in Australia and Switzerland as well
